Things NEVER go as planned

So last weekend I had a few things on my agenda to do:
  • get a camera
  • go to a surprise party
  • and go to a comedy show
Only one of those things got done......The surprise party.

Camera:
I've been procrastinating on getting a camera because I want to maximize my Staples Reward points and I knew I needed to by a printer this week and that would give me at least 5 extra dollars.......I know I know, it's only $5 but every little bit helps.

Comedy Show:
I waited until the last minute to buy tickets and just my luck....the show was sold out so we weren't able to go :-(.  I'm still a little crushed but lesson learned.

So this weekend is going to be super busy but I'm excited.  Nothing much going on tonight.  Tomorrow I'll be working my 2nd job as a wedding assistant.  The bride and groom will be getting married at this lovely venue ( Traveler's Rest) .  I've attended a reception here before but never a wedding so I can't wait to see what it looks like.  Only bad thing....it's going to be close to 100 degrees tomorrow and it's an outdoor wedding.  Not sure why people are so gung ho about getting married outdoors in the summer months in Tennessee but to each is own.

Sunday will be spent with Melissa and Patrick in Kentucky zip lining.  I'm so excited and a bit sad because it's my last major activity before my surgery.  I just hope I don't freak out because I'm not that excited about heights.  I'm sure Melissa will take tons of pictures (I call her The Paparazzi)  so I'll post some next week.

Sorry this post doesn't have any pictures but I still haven't figured how to save them on my Macbook.  I probably need to go take a class :)

Last Weekend Update/This Weekend

Happy Friday!!!!

I know I'm a little late posting this but I really haven't been motivated to write.  I've been in a little rut lately but I was discussing this with my roommate and I think that it's because I don't have a camera......thanks to my lovely niece.  She dropped mine around Christmas time and I haven't purchased a new one yet.  So....That's on my list of things to do this weekend.

Speaking of weekends.....I'm pretty excited about this one.  I only have a few things planned, but for the most part it's going to be a stress free weekend.  Tonight will be spent with a few church members bowling, tomorrow is a surprise bday party for Mr. Ed's sister (don't worry....she doesn't read my blog), and Sunday I'm taking my sunshine on a surprise date night (don't worry.....he doesn't read my blog either....lol) to here:
And since I'm cameraless (Not sure if that is a word) I only have a few pictures from last weekend via my cell phone but check out Nashville's Melrose to see more pictures.

I'm sure that my lovely three followers have been wondering where I'm at ????  I'm here....I have had so much going on the last few weeks that the thought of even sitting down and writing hasn't even crossed my mind.  I've had weddings, wedding showers, baby showers, and work.  But this weekend I finally have a FREE weekend.....well almost free.....LOL.
I'm playing "mommy" to my niece for the next couple of days since her mom is out of town for work.  I'm up for the challenge but before all that fun begins I get to have girls night with some of my favorite girls...Kathleen, Kevana, and Melissa.   Kathleen has graciously offered up her culinary skills tonight.  I can't wait to see what's on the menu.

Saturday I plan on taking my niece to Monkey Joe's for our morning workout and then catching a movie with one of my girlfriends for her 30th birthday.

And SUNDAY it's KICKBALL DAY!!!!!!!

I know I'm in my young 30's but kickball still excites me.  I love the fellowship with my teammates and the exercise.......they only bad thing is that it's supposed to be 96 degrees out.  YIKES!!!!  Maybe someone will have a pool party afterwards so we can cool off.

Do you guys have anything fun planned for the weekend?

Mother's Day Weekend

Well this was one of the best weekends in a long time. I got to hang out with my mom, dad, brother, sister-in-law and niece.  We haven't all been together at the same time in several months.
On Friday I thought I'd treat my mom to a movie to start her Mother's Day weekend off so we caught a late show with one of my bff's and her mom.......well late for my mom (9:55).  I'm so proud of my her......she stayed awake the whole time.
Saturday was spent doing wedding stuff....NOPE, I'm not getting married yet :) but I work for a wedding coordinator on the weekends and we had a walk through with a bride.  After that, I had to go to a fitting for one my good friends wedding.  Yes, I'm adding another dress to my collection of bridesmaid dresses.....I'm getting closer and closer to 27 Dresses.  The rest of the night was spent with my boyfriend watching him grill as I tried to read a few chapters of Something Borrowed so I can go see the movie.....I'm a big fan of Emily Giffin.
Sunday we had dinner at one of my Mom's favorite restaurants....The Chop House in Murfreesboro.  Thank goodness I thought to make a reservation because as soon as we got there we walked right to our table.  It was a great dinner filled with good laughs.  Of course, since we were so close to the mall, my sister-in-law and I couldn't resist stopping at a few of our favorite stores.  We didn't do too much damage:).  Check out a few pics from this weekends adventure

Fill in the blank friday

Lauren at TThe Little Things We Do created Fill In The Blank Friday and I have always wanted to do but it took me a while to figure out.  I'm not the most technologically savvy person :-)
So here is my first every Fill in the Blank Friday......I hope you enjoy.

1.  I am looking forward to a real vacation that doesn't consist of going to a family members wedding, birthday party, retirement party, etc.  I'm want to see the beach, sun and water.

 2.  Something kind of embarrassing that I still love anyway is  .......I still watch teenie bopper shows like Degrassi and 90210.  What can I say....I'm still young at heart :)

3.  My favorite car is   anything that's paid for at this point.  But if I had a choice I'd choose the new Chvey Camaro Convertible-black on black.

4.  If I could pick one type of weather to live with for the rest of my life it would be
75 degrees and sunny everyday

5.  My favorite thing to do after a bad/stressful day is     is to have a bowl of ice cream.....either strawberry or vanilla with chocolate sauce.

6.  This weekend       will be watching friends run in the Country Music Half Marathon and catching up on errands that need to be done .

7.  If I were a color, I'd be Black  because,     it makes you look slimmer and it goes with everything.

Let the countdown begin

I don't know about anyone else (well my 2 followers...lol) but I'm soooooooooooo ready for the weekend to get here.  It's been a long, at times, boring week at work and I'm ready to let the good times roll.  I've got a girls night planned tomorrow night for dinner and a movie....we're headed to see this:
Madea's Big Happy Family....I can't wait.  I heard it's funny and I can stand to have a good laugh or two.
Then on Saturday I plan to get up bright and early and cheer on Nashville's Melrose along with a few other friends in the 2011 Country Music Marathon.  Good luck to everyone running Saturday and I'll be at the finish line cheering you on.

I'll be back with my weekend recap......hopefully I'll remember to take some pictures.

Have a Fantabulous Weekend!!!!!!

Easter Weekend

I wasn't fortunate enough to have a three day weekend but I did get the opportunity to leave at noon on Friday.  I met up with some of my favorite people for lunch at Cheddar's....an AMAZING and affordable restaurant by my house.
After lunch, It was my turn to take over babysitting duties for my niece.  We ran a few errands and visited with my mom at work before heading back home.  Lucky for me, she fell asleep on the way home and didn't wake up for 2 hours later so that allowed for me to catch a power nap.....something that rarely happens.
Friday night my boyfriend and I spent the night with friends from work enjoying good food, drinks and fellowship.

Saturday I had to wake up fairly early to catch Jayla's soccer game.  This week they finally got to play against each other and it was pure comedy.  Kids at that age only understand to get the ball and kick it in the goal.....any goal :).  After a quick highlight touch up and a meeting with my part time job boss I headed to Franklin for a cookout.

Easter Sunday was spent hanging out with family and friends.  After church, we decided to try something different and go to brunch.....good thing because my mom has been battling a cold for the last few days.  We went to the Marriott hotel in Coolsprings and it was PHENOMENAL!!!!!!!  They do this brunch 4 times a year (Easter, Mother's Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas Day).  The food selection was a bit overwhelming at first but I decided to eat breakfast foods first, then lunch, dinner and of course dessert. Everything was YUM YUM Good.  I think we may have started a new tradition.
Me and Jayla after dinner
My basket that Jayla made me

My dad, mom and Jayla with the Easter Bunny...she wasn't too happy

After brunch, we stopped at a car dealership to look at a potential, new to me, car (I tend to get one every two years but it may be sooner since gas prices keep sky rocketing).  After a brief family nap, we headed over to my parents neighbors house for an egg hunt for the kids.  It was so fun watching the kids look for eggs.  I even got involved since the kids kept running past half of them.
I finally made it home around 9:30 exhausted.  I think I watched a few minutes of tv and I was out like a light......too bad I didn't stay asleep all night.

It was a great weekend with lots going on but I wouldn't have it any other way!!!!!  How was your weekend??

Recap

So, I thought this posted yesterday but apparently me hitting "publish post" and the power outage happened simultaneously.  Good thing for auto save :-)

I must say this weekend was pretty uneventful and this was due to having a stomach bug but I managed to make the best of it when I felt well.

Saturday I went to see my niece play in her first soccer game.  I must say, she got her athletic skills from me.  She's going to be a great player.

Saturday night was spent with, my beau, Nashville's Melrose and her beau eating dinner and bowling.  I had a great first game but I was lousy on my second game.  I'm sure if you check out her page she'll have plenty of pics......we weren't camera shy that night at all :)  Had a great time guys......Can't wait to do it again.

I'm hoping this week goes by pretty fast because kickball season starts back on Sunday.  I'm so excited to play.....GO TEAM KICK THIS!!!!!!! Woo Hoo!!!!!!

I'm Baaaaaaaack.....Part 2

I know I know....it's been quite a while since I've blogged and I really have no good excuse.  It just seems like time gets the best of me.  But it's a new week and new start :-)

Friday I met my "special someone" at Stoney River for their happy hour.  I highly recommend it.  They have great appetizer and drink specials.  After hanging out there for a couple of hours we went to visit my parents.  Even though I was stuffed, I couldn't pass up on eating some of the delicious crab legs my mom made.
After watching the Fab 5 special with my Dad we decided to stop by Brewhouse South to see a couple of friends.  We agreed to stay for an hour but that turned into three but it was worth it.  We had a great time hanging with friends, watching basketball and playing trivia.  I must admit, I was pretty good :)
Saturday was such a rainy day that I didn't feel like doing much of anything.  I pampered myself with a manicure and hung out with the family again.  In the evening, I went to my "specials" house for their monthly family dinner.  Saturday night, I was in the bed by 9:30 pm.   I haven't done that in a long long long time but it felt great!!!!

Even though it was winter like weather out on Sunday, me and the "special" decided to grill some steaks. I invited my Uncle to come over and my mom, dad, brother and niece stopped by as well.  It was a great family day with yummy food....steaks, baked potatoes, salad, rolls, and of course....SMORES.  My niece loved it.  It was a busy day and we didn't settle down until 7ish, but it was worth it.  There is nothing like spending time with family and friends.

Now back to the work week.......is it Friday yet??

Weekend Recap

I know I'm a little late on the weekend recap but I've been "snowed in" for a couple of days.  I thought when I moved from Michigan that the snow would stay there but I guess I was wrong.  Pictures to follow of fun in the snow.

This past weekend was a busy one.  It was my niece's 4th birthday party and me being the party planner that I am, I stepped in to help organize and decorate.  She had her party at a local airport hangar thanks to my brother winning a silent auction and we even managed to have one of those big bouncy things, which I must say, I think the adults had more fun jumping in it versus the kids.

My mom even got in to play

Wizard of Oz cake

Sunday was a relaxing day.  I went to church, picked up a few groceries (big mistake by the way, because everyone in middle TN was there stocking up on food for the "storm"), and then I came home and watched a little football before I cooked dinner.  Since Monday was a snow day I decided to drive over and take Jayla to play in the snow.  Unfortunately, we werent' able to find any sleds so my brother improvised :)

We both love to take pictures

baby snowman......I didn't have good gloves so this was the best I could do :)

safety comes first.....lol

I must say I love to see the snow come but after a few days of being stuck in the house I'm ready for it to go away.
